  • Gloriously scented flowers
  • Splendid cut flowers

Upright bushy, early flowering biennials producing gloriously scented flowers in a good colour range which are splendid for cutting. Flowers early summer. As a top tip; Once the seedlings appear you can reduce the temperature down to 5ºC (40ºF), this will result in the seed leaves changing colour slightly, the darker green plants will produce single flowered plants and the lighter seed leaves will result in double flowered plants. Height: 45cm (18")

Culinary note: Flowers are usually added raw to salads or as a garnish to desserts, they can also be candied.

Sowing

Sow in mid summer 6mm (0.25in) deep in boxes in a cold frame or well ventilated cold greenhouse, but do not exclude light, which is beneficial to germination. Prick out into boxes or pots or direct into the cold frame 15cm (6in) apart, and overwinter there providing good ventilation.

Harden off and plant out in the spring at 30- 38cm (12-15in) apart. In mild districts on well drained soil the plants can be transferred to their flowering positions in early autumn.
