This popular old variety has stood the test of time. It's crisp, crunchy, cylindrical roots have a strong, clean flavour that spice up your summer salads. An RHS AGM variety, Radish 'French Breakfast 3', produces reliable crops of attractive red skinned roots with bright white tips. An ideal crop for the kitchen garden, containers, window boxes and greenhouse borders. Sow regularly for continuous succulent roots throughout the summer. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 10cm (4").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible.

Companion planting: Try growing radishes with mint to deter flea beetles, which chew irregular holes in the leaves.

Sowing

Radishes grow well in most soils, but prefer rich, moist free draining soils. Sow seeds at regular intervals from spring through summer in well cultivated soil. Sow seeds very thinly 1cm (0.5in) deep in drills 15cm (6in) apart.

Thin out the seedlings to 20mm (3/4 in) as necessary, Ready to harvest from 21 days from sowing.
